A SHOUT JERKED Lindsay from the nicest sleep of her life and the liquid rustle of papers being dropped reminded her where she was. Lindsay came fully awake when Gwen’s body ratcheted up behind her. The harsh whiteness of daylight burned into her eyes. Lindsay sat up as well and froze. With his body halfway through the doorway was Marshall. His mouth hung open and his feet were buried in a gigantic pile of handwritten notes.

“Oh gosh! Sorry Doctor M,” Marshall stammered. He kicked the papers around as he frantically tried to get the doorway clear enough to close it. He kept his head down as both hands wrestled with the doorknob. “I saw nothing! I’m going to get some coffee! It will take at least ten minutes!”

With that, he threw himself backwards and hauled the door shut, trapping a number of papers in the doorframe.

“Oh my God,” Gwen collapsed onto Lindsay with a weak laugh. “I’m so sorry about that. I completely forgot Marshall had a key and was coming in early to return my ID. Are you all right?”

“Not too bad,” Lindsay said and stretched. Her body hummed with happiness and she couldn’t find much to worry about. She got to her feet and absently picked up her blouse before she shrugged into it. After retrieving her skirt and shoes, Lindsay perched on the sofa to give Gwen a long, lingering good morning kiss.

“We only have ten minutes,” Gwen said even though she held Lindsay around the waist without an indication she wanted to let go. She touched her forehead to Lindsay’s. Gwen sighed. “I’d love to have you in my arms forever but I don’t think Marshall could take seeing full-on girl-on-girl twice in the same day.”

“Fair enough,” Lindsay said. With that, Gwen released her. Lindsay stood and tucked in her blouse. To be honest, she was more amused than anything at the situation. “I’ll behave. I wouldn’t want to traumatize your student. Again.”

They were both dressed and decent by the time Marshall came back. That time he knocked and waited for Gwen’s okay before he opened the door and peeked in with a paper bag from the café in the SUB in his hand. He heaved a relieved sigh as he trotted into the office. Marshall put the bag down on the table before he sank into an armchair. Across from him on the sofa, Lindsay and Gwen sat with a chaste distance between them.

“Sorry about surprising you like that,” Gwen said with an apologetic look. “Thanks for the coffee, by the way.”

“No problem,” Marshall said with his cup at his mouth. He looked much better than the first time he was in the office that morning. “And I have to thank you two for the, uh, show.” He shot Lindsay a mischievous look. “Very pretty underwear by the way.”

“Excuse me?” Gwen glowered across the table.

“Yours is nice too,” he said.

“Oh for goodness’ sake,” Gwen said with a hand over her face. “Anyway, thanks for coming in with my ID.
